Eastern Promise carpet ride

I did a quilting class with Anna Williams at end of August here are some pictures of the piece I made
It is still in the making but I hope to complete it when I feel better. I have bronchitis at the moment but as soon as I'm back to full strength hehe!!! will continue.....
I had such a dilemma .... as here I had this beautiful fabric and now had to cut chunks out of it to use....
but then I remembered I did a "Liberated quilt class" and so took the plunge ...... LOOK AT THE RESULTS
Im so pleased.....

This is the fabric I choose for my "Eastern Promise" class

The piece is not finished I still have to do much stitching and then the quilting but watch this space for finished piece soon

Intro post

I've wanted to start a blog for quite sometime but have not been so confident to do this. After reading a book (twelve by twelve The International Art Quilt Challenge) I got the book from a dear friend for my birthday and this has inspired me to start a blog.  I have many friends on Facebook and hope this blog will be another online outlet to share and
So here I am
I am a quilter/fibre arty hand-i-women hehe!!!!.  I have been stitching since 1960's when I was at school. I did sewing, handwork and embroidery most of my younger years. I got my 1st sewing machine (a Singer) for my 21st and started a sewing correspondence course which I never completed. I got married and was given a small portable Singer which I used till 1999 when I invested in a new Elna sewing machine and serger (overlocker). A friend was getting married and I was asked to help her with the making of a lot of outfits for the bridal group.
I moved house and stumbled on a quilting shop on my way to the bank one afternoon and from there I started my quilting journey. This was in 2000 and have enjoyed stitching.
We moved from South Africa to New Zealand in 2004  and I've been continuing with my sewing.
I am a member of the Waikato Patchworkers and Quilters Guild and have joined a Textile Group.
I relish experimenting with different techniques.  I want to learn more and endevour to continue with my crafts. I find making large quilts quite a challenge so try and keep my projects at a handleable size.  I have just received a Bernina 550 QE so can't wait to get stitching.
Well I guess that will do for now I have made a start.
